They should go cross-eyed - aligning the two different colours - for the entire duration. This is quite tricky but possible." - Mark Fell

"Self-deception"@ Izklausās pēc mākslas /Sounds like art

Cēsis, Gaujas 5, May 21/23/29/30. Open: 11.00.-18.00.

Sometimes it’s problematic for human auditory system to localize particular types of sounds in space and audio data becomes matter of subjective interpretation - some sort of "auditory point of view". Paradoxaly, we can even hear sounds that "aren't there" from the scientific, "objective" point of view. For example, sounds, that doesn’t get registered in technical measurements. Therefore it is possible to assume that we are not just passively hearing some kind of fixed “audio reality” but also actively participate in it's creation through the act of hearing.
5 cd players asynchronically play 30x30x30x30x30 specially prepared audio fragments which stimulates auditory illusions on 8+1 loudspeakers. In this semi-automatic process every fragment interacts with other fragments in countless combinations creating new variations of illusions and other fascinating sonic phenomena that perplex our auditory system. In this ever changing chaos from which new combinations are born, brain is trying to find some sense or structures and this often leads to auditory self-deception.

Belsona Academy Set [12.03.10]
broadcasted on London's Resonance FM mp3 ------>

"This week's installment of the Belsona Academy features a Resonance-exclusive mix of generative computer insanity from a new artist- Riga, Latvia's own Martins Rokis. Sounding at times like the soundtrack to some future documentary film on revolting nano-bots, Rokis' work drips with a unique absurdist humour and has a kind of holographic presence. Recommended for those with strong speaker systems."
The Belsona Academy - a weekly 'digital digest' of radical and unorthodox electronic audio. Digressing from the themes covered by Thomas Bey William Bailey's book-length survey "Micro Bionic" (Creation Books, 2009)////////
Other contributing artists to the series include – EVOL, Francisco Lopez, Utah Kawasaki, AUBE, Maja Ratkje, Seth Nehil, Kozo Inada, Lee Gamble, Zbigniew Karkowski, Junky Cao, Wang Fan, John Duncan +++more....
